My termination

Carrie claims that I was terminated for cause. This is the actual chain of emails where my termination occurred:

On Sunday’s call you gave – and the board accepted – your and Gwen’s resignations, effective immediately. You are no longer an employee of the co-op.

I did not give my resignation, and I am not authorized to give Gwen’s. I did offer both in the context of the employment termination agreement (with Gwen’s consent) but you haven’t accepted that agreement.

Do you want me to come in to the store this afternoon to work with Gus, or do you want me to stay away while we’re still working on the agreements?

Note that I was trying to be helpful here, and train Gus on the administrative functions of our point-of-sale and inventory management system. Carrie’s response:

Don’t come in to work. You are no longer an employee of the co-op.

An hour and a half later, she followed up with:

You came back with a “termination agreement” for both of you, not the immediate resignation for both of you that we agreed to on Sunday. If you both insist on being terminated, you’ll be terminated effective immediately, for cause.

I was fired at 9:31, and threatened with “cause” at 11:11. There was no further discussion of the matter of termination vs. resignation, and “cause” was never given.
